Ustad Sultan Khan is a Famous Indian sarangi player and singer, mastered in the Hindustani Classical music tradition. He is known for his melodic control and abilities. Sultan Khan is one of the members of the Indian fusion group Tabla Beat Science, along with Zakir Hussain and Bill Laswell.

He has taught music to producers such as Sukshinder Shinda and Ram Gopal Verma and also guided them to play the sarangi. He belongs to the Indore Gharana. Khan Sahib’s way to play sarangi and gayaki ang (singing) makes his presentation of Indian Classical Ragas distinguished and pleasing to everyone.

His two well-known disciples are Ustad Ikram Khan (another sarangi player) and Anand Vyas — his only student who plays the sitar. He is also the sitar player for the musical ensembles Arrows of Agape and Global Circus. The group(Arrows of Agape) was co-constructed by Vyas and Justin Benigno in 2008.

Ustad Sultan Khan gave his first performance at the All-India Conference at the young age of 11, and since then he has performed internationally, performing along with Pandit Ravi Shankar, George Harrison’s etc.

He also holds numerous musical awards, including a twice recipient of the Sangeet Natak Academy Award, also known as the President’s Award, as well as a recipient of the Gold Medalist Award of Maharashtra, and the American Academy of Artists Award in 1998. In 1997 Sultan Khan had the honor and privilege of having to perform at Prince Charles 50th birthday celebrations.

Some of the other Notable Sarangi players are: Ustad Bundu Khan, Pandit Gopal Mishra, Pandit Ram Narayan, Gopal Mishra, Ikram Khan, Ramesh Mishra, Ghulam Mohammad,  Shakoor Khan, Wahid Khan, Abdul Karim Khan, Bade Ghulam Ali Khan, Amir Khan, Niaz Ahmed and Fayaz Ahmed Khan, Rajan and Sajan Mishra etc.
